Annual Salary: $219,100.00 - $284,599.00 (Amount based on office location, relevant experience, skills, and competencies)

The Senior Director of Corporate Strategy will direct and oversee the Strategy function for Encore and its subsidiaries. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk & Compliance Officer and SVP of Strategy, this role involves significant interaction with the Encore Executive Leadership Team, senior leadership globally, and the Encore CEO.

The key area of responsibilities includes the Overall Company Strategy and Annual Strategic Plan, Strategic Initiatives, Board Materials, Mergers & Acquisitions, Competitive Analysis and supporting the Executive Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Company Strategy and Annual Strategic Plan: Create and own Encore Capital’s strategy culminating in the Annual Strategic Plan which is presented to the company Board of Directors.  The strategy outlines key strategies for the company over a 5 year period.  Role involves driving overall thought process and content for the strategic plan and working with executive groups to drive alignment around the strategy. Involves collaboration across business units and geographies to create and manage key elements of the strategic plan.  


Strategic Initiatives: Drive and lead initiatives including growth (e.g., new market or product exploration, potential consulting engagements), cost/expense initiatives, and detailed strategic analysis of critical business drivers. Partner with the CEO and other business unit strategy leaders to source and develop new opportunities. Collaborate with the SVP of Strategy in evaluating new asset classes, geographic expansion, and new lines of business.  


Board Materials: Prepare and compile board materials at least quarterly, continually seeking and driving content and process improvements. Collaborate across business units and functions to access key elements of the strategic plan and presentations. Manage the flow of information across the organization, developing and maintaining key relationships with Financial Planning and Analysis, Business Unit Strategy teams, Corporate Development, Treasury, Tax, SEC Reporting, and other key functions.  


Mergers & Acquisitions: Lead diligence efforts related to company mergers and acquisitions. Post-transaction, drive due diligence and integration work, connecting with all SMEs and managing the post-integration plan, including lessons learned for future M&A.  


Competitive Analysis: Lead the collection, analysis, and dissemination of competitive information in the United States, Europe and globally, helping to inform executive management regarding key trends and strategies.  


Support Executive Leadership Team: Support the CEO in annual corporate management conferences and large-scale enterprise-wide projects. Oversee quarterly strategic meetings with the Encore Executive Leadership Team and CEO, as well as business unit leads. Program manage workstreams resulting from these meetings. Collaborate across the enterprise to implement strategic initiatives.  


People Leadership: Lead and develop a team of strategy professionals, enabling them to drive the collection of board materials and organization of the initiatives described above.  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:  Bachelor's

EXPERIENCE:  15+ years of experience in strategy, finance, analytics, business operations, consulting, or a relevant functional role with at least four years in a leadership role. Experience leading large strategic initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in process and project management.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and budget management. Strong business acumen. High level of communication skills across a global organization.
  • High degree of initiative and decision-making. High level of personal integrity, with the ability to manage confidential matters professionally and show appropriate judgment and maturity.
  • Good judgment, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service, and business integrity.
  • Critical thinker and analytical person.
