The Manager, Corporate Communications significantly contributes to the department by developing and overseeing Corporate Communications goals, budget, projects and initiatives, both internal and external, which align with the goals of the business. Lead complex media relations efforts including strategy development, story pitching, fact checking, and reporter targeting in an effort to provide strategic policy advocacy and/or reputational impact. Develop a local media strategy with key focus on reputational media coverage in San Diego, but also evaluate value for other Encore global locations. The Manager will create internal communications strategies, structures and processes that ensure the delivery of news and information to employees and connect employees with the company's goals. The Manager will also work cross-functionally with key stakeholders, including the senior management team, consumer marketing, human resources, Corporate Communications India and various other departments and teams to create and/or support effective company-wide communications, including executive Q and A, videos and webcasts. Independently develop proactive, sustained campaign-style communication programs to address Encore's most pressing public policy/reputational issues. Campaigns may include media relations, building third party support, issues advertising, lobbying support and social media. It will also include developing and managing specialty web sites; radio, print and online advertisements, and other materials for legislative issue advocacy. Specifically, the candidate will develop collateral materials to support public testimony, draft Op Eds or Letters to Editor, and manage all media coverage/outreach on public policy issues. Finally, he or she will work with a variety of trade press, local and national organizations (i.e. business journals) to not only build media relations, but to also understand business awards, the necessary standards for achieving them ("Best of ", "Fastest growing", etc.), and managing cross functional efforts to achieve desired external outcomes. Will develop, manage and oversee the direct report(s) that roll up to this position.
Strong understanding and application of corporate communications, excellent writing, critical reasoning and project management skills are essential as is the ability to cultivate and maintain relationship with personnel in roles and agencies that impact Encore’s work. The ideal candidate will bring strong public affairs and public relations experience, solid business acumen, and an understanding of corporate messaging and storytelling. This individual must be technology-savvy and have superior writing, editing and relationship management skills, and must be able to manage various workflows and balance competing interest and priorities.
Build media relationship with trade journals and business journals in an effort to gain corporate press release placement or stories, and also achieve business awards. (15%)

Develop proactive, sustained campaign-style communication program to address external public policy issue management. Specifically provide creative services for specialty web sites, radio, print and online advertisements and other communications deliverables related to public policy and external audiences. (20%)

Lead complex media relations efforts including strategy development, story pitching, fact checking, and reporter targeting in an effort to provide strategic policy advocacy and/or reputational impact. Work with cross functional teams to develop creative external media strategies and execute to that plan. (25%)

Management of direct reports (reporting to the role). (5%)

Provide expert communications support to cross-functional teams including Human Resources, Marketing, Corporate Communications India, and other stakeholders, partnering with them to ensure that information is communicated effectively and in keeping with the company's internal brand. Initiate, develop and produce effective company-wide communications deliverables, including written messages, videos, web casts, leader Q&As, etc. Develop and manage the company's internal brand. (20%)

Set goals for the communication department, submit, oversee and manage the budget for the corporate communications budget. Develop, and assist with setting goals for the Communications Specialist, and any other roles that may be managed by the Manager, Corporate Communications. (15%)

Required: Bachelor; Communications, Public Affairs, English or related field

Preferred: Master or Advanced

Required: 7 years of related work in corporate communications, public affairs, specifically experience in issue advocacy and reputation management. Strong external media relations experience.. Advanced Proficiency with social media tools and platforms. Advanced level of proficiency of MS Office; specifically PowerPoint. Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills. Proven ability to work across groups and think creatively about options.

Preferred: 7 -10 years of corporate communications and/or public affairs , including at least 3 years of PR, Advertising or Marketing agency experience. Preference to experience working in a highly regulated industry.. Advanced proficiency with social media tools and platforms.
